About Hope
Hope Community Church is a non-denominational, independent church that launched in June of 2012.
Lifelong resident of Delaware County, Josh Shaffer, planted Hope Community Church with a team of local Christians supported by Bethlehem Church in Thornton, PA. Instead of hosting a worship service, we spent our first Sunday morning together as a church making repairs at a local rehabilitation facility. Serving our surrounding community has been our priority from day one.
Our first meeting location for worship services
was the Wyndham Garden Hotel in Essington.
In February of 2013, we began renting space at the Barnstormers Theater in Ridley Park. In October of 2013, we started building a relationship with our close neighbors, the congregation of First Baptist Church of Ridley Park. Over time, that relationship grew into a partnership, and in January of 2020, First Baptist Church gifted their property to Hope Community Church.
AFTER MANY NOMADIC YEARS, WE ARE THRILLED TO HAVE A PERMANENT HOME BASE FOR OUR CHURCH.
However, we remain steadfast in our belief that “church” cannot be contained in any building. Church is the movement of Jesus in this world. We the people of Hope Community Church are the movement of Jesus in the Ridley/Interboro area.

The people of Hope Community Church desire to be a force of good in our community. We would not be able to exist without the help of team members who volunteer their time and talents on a weekly basis.
